0

The City of Port St. Lucie will host a construction public information meeting for the Crosstown Parkway Extension Design/Build Project from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017. A presentation will be provided starting at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, located at 2195 SE Airoso Boulevard in Port St. Lucie.

The meeting will start with an informal open house format. A presentation will be provided starting at 6 p.m. and will provide project updates and an overview of construction activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentation and/or submit comments. The City and members of the Project team will be available throughout the meeting to discuss the project and answer questions. The meeting will provide the public an opportunity to review final renderings of the new bridge, roadway plans, anticipated project schedule, traffic impacts and other project-related materials.

The Crosstown Parkway Extension Design/Build Project involves providing a new bridge crossing over the North Fork of the St. Lucie River in the City of Port St. Lucie, connecting the existing Crosstown Parkway from Manth Lane to U.S. 1. The project extends along the existing West Virginia Drive, crossing over the North Fork of the St. Lucie River and connecting into U.S. 1 at Village Green Drive. The project is approximately two miles with the bridge being approximately 4,000 feet. The six lane divided highway and bridge will serve as a multi-modal transportation alternative to include accommodations for automobile, bicycle, pedestrian and public transit. The project will help alleviate traffic congestion, providing relief to the two existing crossings of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River at Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Prima Vista Boulevard. The project will improve public safety, emergency response times, help reduce travel times and enhance mobility. Construction activities for the project started in January 2017 and completion is anticipated for Fall 2019. Construction for bridge activities is anticipated to begin Mid 2017. The estimated construction costs for the project are $86.9 million.
