Juan Romero, a laborer with P&C Demolition and Construction of Fort Pierce, helps level out the dirt for a new sidewalk that is part of an expansion project for the education center at Savannas Preserve Park in Port St. Lucie. The expansion includes a new 3,000-square-foot space adjacent to the education center that will include a wet lab, a large lecture space and offices. “Students will be able to get out in the field, see nature and then bring those things back here to do some hands-on science,” said park manager Chris Vandello (not pictured). The project is expected to be completed in September. The main entrance to the park and the education center will be closed for three weeks in August.
